WHAT SHOULD I ASK DURING MY COLLEGE VISITS?
Some things to consider in choosing a college that’s right for you
Before visiting a school or meeting with an admissions representative, read their literature and make a list of issues that are important to YOU. Some questions could include:
- How many students are in a typical freshman classroom?
- Do you offer internships or co-op opportunities where I can combine my course work with hands-on experience?
- What types of work-study opportunities exist where I can earn part-time income?
- What type of support services do you offer in terms of tutoring, advising, personal concerns, financial assistance, job placement, etc.
- Do you offer any direct loans or grants? If so, how do I apply for them?
- What are your Application and Financial Aid deadlines?
- Can I switch majors and if so, when do I have to make a final decision on my major?
- As a potential ______ major, what courses will I be taking in my first two years?
- Have the courses I’ve taken in high school been appropriate for the major I am considering?
- Can I meet with faculty & students and/or spend an overnight on campus?
